Secondary Breast Cancer?

We found out that my mom’s chemo therapy was not working for her cancer, which came back in other areas of her body (not major organs) and now the doctors are suggesting clinical trials or hormone therapy. Has anyone heard of any results of the hormone therapy for recurring breast cancer? Does it work?
